Sorojini Sarangi Nursing College (SSNC) is a nursing college at Patbeda, Baharagora, in East Singhbhum, Jharkhand. Established in 2026 and affiliated to Kolhan University, Chaibasa, we offer three nursing programmes — B.Sc Nursing, GNM and ANM — with permission from the Indian Nursing Council. We are a co-educational institution welcoming students from across Jharkhand and the neighbouring districts of Odisha and West Bengal.
The college is founded by Dr. Dinesh Kumar Sarangi, former Member of the Legislative Assembly from Baharagora and the first Health Minister of Jharkhand, together with the Tarapada Sorojini Charitable Trust. The founding family already runs established educational institutions in the region, including TPS DAV Public School.
Our purpose grows from a simple observation: this region has long sent its young people far away to train as nurses. SSNC brings that opportunity home — quality nursing education, close to the communities it serves, in a part of India that needs more skilled healthcare workers than ever.
Nursing asks a great deal of those who choose it. The students who will thrive at SSNC share three things.
They show up — clinical learning runs on the hospital's clock, not ours. They are kind — because a nurse is the person at the bedside when someone is most vulnerable. And they keep learning — because nursing is a profession that grows for as long as you practise it.
If that sounds like you, we'd be proud to have you in our founding batch.
Baharagora sits at a rare crossroads. It is a tri-junction of three national highways, where the borders of three states — Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal — meet. Local people call it a Triveni Sangam: a confluence.
Three languages are spoken here — Odia, Bengali and Hindi. Three cultures live side by side — Odia, Bengali and the tribal traditions of the region. The town stands on the bank of the Subarnarekha.
It is a fitting home for a nursing college whose mission is Sarvangin Vikas — the all-round development of a region that belongs to no single state, language or community, but to all of them.
